So for those of you who didn't think we'd make it...well hope you didn't lose much on that bet, but here we are...one year! :) It's crazy to think it's already been a year since we got hitched! We had a good day. We both got the day off and slept in!....that was nice after opening the whole weekend. After we had breakfast a knock came at the door which was weird...no one comes to our house. I looked out the peep hole and saw a HUGE bouquet of flowers! So I opened the door and it was Shannon who Carson works with...I thought, "Why is Shannon delivering flowers to me?" come to find out, she makes flower arrangements. Wow she did a good job! The house smells so good! We went to see the movie Benjamin Buttons. It was pretty good. Then we went to PF Changs for dinner. Yum! What a good day. We look forward to many more joyful years together. Love you Cars!

Christmas
This was our first Christmas as a married couple and it was quite a busy day but it was also really fun. We spent the morning with the Cullimore's and then made our way back down to Orem to spend the afternoon with the Swensen's where we got to talk to Rob who is serving his mission in Spain. We were so glad to get to talk to him and spent two hours on the phone with him. Later that evening we went back home where our presents from eachother waited to be opened. I got Carson a BYU decal for his car, a nice jacket, movies, etc but the best present was a new pillow! He didn't have a very good one so pretty much every night he thought hewas sneaky and would take mine....so now he doesn't have to do that! :) I got a super cute pea coat and Carson surprised me by framing a picture his grandpa gave us which I was having a hard time finding a frame for. It was a really good Christmas.

Quantum of Solace
For those of you who don't already know.....I am a huge James Bond fan. I grew up watching them and I try to see them all on opening night.
Quantum of Solace, number 22, came out today. I was impressed with it. While I did not think it was as good as Casino Royale, it tied up some loose ends from Casino Royale and was thoroughly enjoyable.

The Happiest Place on Earth!!!!
We have spent the last week at Disneyland. We went down there with Rachelle's family. We left last Sunday and drove to St. George where we stayed at her grandpa's winter house. We made the rest of the journey on Monday.
We made it to Anaheim at about 3 on Monday and spent that evening at the park. We pretty much hit all the rides we wanted to in Disneyland and California Adventure. We got to eat at the Blue Bayou(the restaurant on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride). It was a good time. My favorite ride was probably California Screamin'. Its an awesome roller coaster. Overall it was an enjoyable week.
We made it home last night late after a long drive home.

Pioneer Day Parade
Due to some undisclosed connections we have stumbled across, Rachelle and I got to be in the Days of 47 Parade through downtown SL. We had a very important job, make sure the float doesn't hit any small children. Enjoy!
Video of us in the parade
If you look carefully you'll see us walking along either side of the float.

Journey and Batman
On July 11th one of my favorite bands, Journey, came to Usana Amphitheater. Aside from the traffic and the 2.5 hours it took to get there the concert was awesome. Cheap Trick was first and, sadly, we completely missed them. Heart was up second and they rocked. Then a Steve Perry-less Journey performed. I found the show to be great and would love to do it again sometime.

We also went and saw The Dark Knight the weekend it came out. We loved it!

4th of July
OK I know this is over a month late, but I have been waiting to get some pictures and I'm just bad at posting.
My Mom's side of the family has always celebrated the 4th of July by going to my Grandpa's cabin and to the Oakley Rodeo. Unfortunately, my Grandpa had to sell his cabin this last year. We ended up relocating our family to the Homestead Resort in Midway. It was a fun-filled weekend with swimming, tennis, bowling, the rodeo and we couldn't resist going to Granny's and getting some shakes. Clay, the Mayor, and myself went golfing on the 4th. I genuinely enjoyed it(something I haven't always been able to say about golf), and it has peaked my interest at maybe getting a little more into it.

The Big Move
This last weekend we got moved out of our ghetto, little cottage and into a nicer apartment. It was a little sad moving out of our first place. But it will be nice to have a nicer place. We had a lot of help so thanks to all that helped us.

Our new place is down in Provo and is a little bit bigger than our old cottage. We have central air and a decent furnace. Plus we have a dishwasher. It was a hassle moving all our furniture up three flights of stairs, which means we may have to recruit a new set of movers when we move out.

Thanks everyone for helping us move!

Seinfeld
When we heard that Jerry was coming to town we just had to go. We got tickets and planned to go with Rachelle's sister and brother-in-law. Well the night came last Friday. It was more than I could have hoped it to be.
He spent a good part of an hour and a half with his act. He then opened the floor up to questions. Unfortunately, because I was too far away, I didn't get to ask any questions. It was interesting to hear the answers to some of the questions. There were not many questions directed to his life(which I think is what he was hoping for). Most of the questions were related to the sitcom.
One of those questions was: What is your favorite episode? His response was: I don't have a favorite episode but I have a few favorite moments. One of his favorite moments is the time when Kramer hits the golf ball into the whales blow hole. This also happens to be my favorite episode, so I was quite excited about that. Anyway it was quite the night and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I hope he comes through again at some point.

McCain could take a lesson or two from GOB
Well folks if you haven't noticed I'm a bit dry on the blog posts. I thought I could add something that would spice it up. Rachelle and I have really gotten into Arrested Development. If you haven't watched it, you should check it out because it is hilarious. I thought I would share my favorite clip from the show.

EyeV and Malaga Spain

Since the wedding, most of our time has been filled with school and work which bores me even thinking about it. However, we have had a couple of exciting things happen.
Early evening on the first Saturday in March, I had come home from a day working at the gas station. Next to our little home we have an old, cruddy shed. Every time the wind blows, it takes the doors right off of the shed. So when I came home and noticed the doors off again I decided I would just stick them inside the shed and leave them in there. I put them and the back of the shed and as I turned around I ran into a hook(most likely to hang tools from) that was hanging from the ceiling. The hook caught me in the eye. Frightened I checked to make sure I still had an eye, then I made sure I wasn't blind.
About 30 seconds later, Rachelle got home from work. We decided we had better get me to a doctor, so we went to an instacare. They checked it out and found I had an abrasion on the outside of my eye lid. They decided to flush my eye out with water to make sure there was nothing in my eye. This may have been the weirdest experience I've ever had. I had basically a plastic contact lens , which was hooked to an I.V., placed in my eye. Then I had water running into my eye for the next 15 minutes. It felt weird. But everything turned out okay and healed up just fine.
Rachelle's little brother Rob left on his mission on April 9, 2008, to the Spain Malaga Mission. It was fun to spend some time with him before he left and now we are excited to hear about his future adventures. We are excited for him to come home, but we are glad he is out serving the Lord.
Engagement
We got engaged September 9, 2007. I need to thank my parents, especially my Dad, for the great acting, which helped us surprise Rachelle.
While preparing for dinner that Sunday evening my dad purposely burnt some garlic bread in the oven. So after that we continued on with dinner as usual. But shortly after the prayer we heard sirens outside and we looked to find a Fire Truck. My Mom(the Relief Society President) started saying I hope its not for someone in the ward. It soon became apparent that the firemen were coming to our home. My dad answered the door, the firemen said they had reports of smoke coming from our home. My dad explained to them that he burned some bread and we are fine. The firemen explained that it is standard procedure to do a walk through of the house just in case. They had us all go out onto the lawn while they checked out the house.
When they finished walking through the house, they brought the pan of bread out with them when they came and brought the ring on the pan. I grabbed the ring and proposed. She was caught off guard and she said yes! My brother in law Clay had his video camera and caught the whole thing on tape. If I can figure out how to do it I will put the video on here.

The Holiday
Rachelle isn't much of a computer person so I will be doing most of the work here. To get it started, I'll tell about how we met.
We met in April 2007 at the Holiday Oil on 1600 North in Orem. I was working at the time and Rachelle was filling her car up on her way to work. My boss, Vaughn, enjoyed trying to find Darryl, my coworker, and I dates. He would try tell us he will get girls numbers, but never would.
So Rachelle came in, paid for gas and went out to fill up her car. After she left the store I asked Vaughn to get us her number. Much to my surprise he grabbed some paper and walked out to her pump. Darryl and I turned on the speaker at the pump so we could hear what they were saying. She seemed skeptical but decided to give him her number.
Later that week, Darryl and I were planning to go on a double date. I had already asked someone and Darryl needed a date so I told him to take Rachelle. He called and left a message, but got no response. The next week we decided to see if she was trying to avoid us(cause we work at a gas station) so we both text messaged her. She responded to us both and thus began our conversations.
We text messaged occasionally over the month. I tried to hang out with her one night, but she was doing "homework"(she still claims to this day that she really was doing homework on a Friday night). After that excuse, I had given up and didn't plan on talking to her again. But about a week later she asked if I wanted to go out with her. Unfortunately, I had a date that weekend and was unable to go out with her. After seeing that she was interested I asked her out and we finally went out on our first date at the beginning of June. It was actually the same night that my brother Clayton got engaged.
